Rev. Theodore A. Iverson, Called to Glory, September 4, 1933 - March 15, 2025

Theodore (Ted) Iverson was born September 4, 1933, in River Forest, IL. He graduated from St. John’s, Winfield, KS, in 1954 with an AA; Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, MO, in 1958 with an M.Div., and from San Francisco Theological Seminary, in 1974.

On April 11, 1959, he married Betty (nee Vogel). They were blessed with four children: Mark, Kent, Adriene, and Allan.

After his ordination on July 6, 1958, Pastor Iverson served at Zion, Magnolia, IA, 1958 - 1960, Redeemer, Fresno, CA, 1960 – 1974; Bethlehem, Monterey, CA, 1974 – 1978; and he served the CNH District office from 1978 – 2009 in various capacities: Business Manager; Administrative Services Director for Missions; Interim Services Director for Evangelism and Stewardship; and President of the CNH District Church Extension Fund.. He retired in 2009.

His other services to District included membership on numerous committees and Secretary of the CNH District (1967 – 1975). He was active in Synodical mission and church extension fund activities, especially in the early planning process. Services to the community include Fresno Community Council, and director of Good Shepherd Fund.

In his spare time, Pastor Iverson enjoyed baking and making candy. He was a woodworker and a wonderful artist. He was a fan of the San Francisco Giants and 49ers. He and Betty enjoyed the California Shakespeare Theater, having season tickets for decades. They took many trips to Lake Tahoe with their grandchildren. He built CEF from a $7,000 fund to a $60M+ fund - enabling loans to help churches and schools build and renovate. He never shied away from having tough conversations about money. A favorite quote of his is, "God asks us to give by faith, not spend by it."

Pastor Iverson was preceded in death by his wife, Betty. He is survived by his children: Mark, Kent, Adriene, Allan, and grandchildren: Ryan, Claire, Shane, and Julian.

The details for a memorial service are pending.

Please keep the Iverson family in your prayers.
