Pastors and called workers follow their God-ordained calling throughout their career. Sometimes this means moving on to another city, state and/or congregation.
Pastors Micah Glenn, James Cleland and Jonathan Zoch along with their families formed friendships in the St. Louis area and through three different call processes, all found themselves being installed in Carson City area ministries earlier this year.
Zoch and Cleland were at Concordia Seminary together with Cleland graduating first and accepting a call at St. Mark, Houston. Zoch arrived the next year and served as a vicar at St. Mark.
Also at Concordia Seminary was Glenn, who served as Director of Recruitment and was the boss and friend of Cleland, who spent time as a Student Recruitment ambassador.
Fast forward to this year and Zoch accepted a call at Trinity, Gardnerville, which was partnering with St. Mark. During this time, Cleland was able to guest preach at Trinity and on one Sunday, members of the Shepherd of the Valley, Carson City call committee came to see him preach as part of their call process.
So, on August 4, Glenn was installed as head of schools at Sierra Lutheran High School, Carson City. Cleland was installed at Shepherd of the Sierra on August 11. Zoch was installed at Trinity on September 14. Cleland is also a teacher at Sierra Lutheran.
Cleland summed up the process in this way: “Our families could not ignore the amazing God-controlled coincidences and all three of us accepted our new calls knowing that God was providing friends for us to go through the transition together.”
