The award will normally be given at the CNH Fall Pastors’ Conference. Theodore (Ted) Zimmerman and Elaine (Paulson) were married in 1965. He was a graduate of Concordia Sr. College, Ft. Wayne, IN in 1963, and Concordia Seminary, St. Louis in 1967. After serving a vicarage in Cleveland, OH, he and Elaine were called to St. Paul and Loup City, NE, to a dual parish. From there, Ted went on to the CNH District, where he served at St. John’s in Napa, CA and Zion in San Francisco, CA. He was persistent and skillfull in facilitating cross-cultural ministry in San Francisco, and for 12 years was the steadfast right hand of the District President, Walter Tietjen, for whom he served as First Vice President of the CNH. Ted and Elaine (also missionary at the core and a capable educator) were blessed with four children: Scott, Shelly, Stacy, and Shawn.
The following words were written by President emeritus, Walter Tietjen, regarding Ted (excerpted from his Personal Information Form): Pastor Zimmerman is a strong administrator, a fine leader who has a real compassion for people. He is an excellent preacher and teacher, and a good organizer who faithfully follows through on detail. He’s been most helpful in the district at large when it comes to providing leadership education. He’s also developed considerable experience in managing conflict. He is a good counselor, an effective communicator, a man who relates well to people of all ages and possesses a delightful sense of humor.
Pastor Zimmerman faithfully served several interims in retirement and assists presently in helping to manage “the Farm,” a community outreach ministry sponsored by St. John’s in Napa, CA. He and Elaine are still active in the CNH District Disability Ministries Committee. He continues to serve as an unofficial advisor, counselor, and advocate in public and private matters.
We praise God for this servant of Christ!
