CEF Grant Information
The California-Nevada-Hawaii District joined the Lutheran Church Extension Fund in January of 2016. After the consolidation of our CNH CEF financial resources with the larger LCEF, we had approximately $1.4 million yet remaining with our CNH CEF to be used for mission work and outreach ministries within the CNH District. Our CNH CEF Board of Directors elected to make these funds available (in the form of grants) to all CNH congregations, the CNH Board of Directors, and the CNH Mission Agency.
Click here for salient portions of the policy statement of the CEF Board that governs these funds along with the specific criteria that will govern the awarding of each grant. Don Busse, the President of CEF, also prepared a sample grant application. While following this sample application form is not required in preparing your grant request, it is provided as a very helpful tool.
These grant opportunities once again reflect the incredible blessing that our CNH CEF has been to our congregations and schools for the past several years. Far more than a lending institution of the church, CEF was and remains a great partner in the mission work of our Lord Jesus Christ. Our Lord’s personal commitment to “seek and to save the lost” drove the formation of the CEF and has governed its purpose to this moment.
Below is additional information about the grants:
There is no application per se. Instead, send a letter to the Board (via Glenna Sanlis), requesting a grant, listing the applicable criteria from the Grants Policy.
There is no time line or length of time. It will be a first come, first served until the fund is depleted.
Could be multiple grants.
No maximum dollar amount—until fund is depleted.
