Debra Boelk, formerly of Vacaville, recounted in her last newsletter a trip to mainland China where she had several unexpected opportunities to discuss Jesus. Pray that God would give Debra the wisdom and the courage to continue to seize these “divine appointments” which God supplies.
Rev. Herb and Markie Burch serve the Lord as career missionaries of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod in Lima, Peru. Herb was formerly pastor in Grace, Santa Maria, CA. They work with other missionaries to implement the outlined mission strategy for this area. Through Word and Sacrament ministry, they care for disadvantaged people who need to experience the love of Jesus Christ. Markie received a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from Colorado College, Colorado Springs, and she worked as the head librarian at Lompoc Unified School District, Lompoc, CA, for 12 years before heading to the mission field.
Rev. Daniel and Kathryn Conrad, formerly at Terra Bella, serve the Lord as career missionaries of The Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod in Mexico. In this role, Daniel teaches courses in Lutheran theology to assist in training individuals in the Lutheran faith. He also preaches the Gospel in congregations whenever needed. Kathryn received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She worked as a teacher’s aide and served with Daniel in Venezuela before heading to the mission field. Rev. Charles and Janet Froh , formerly at Grace, San Mateo, CA, serve the Lord as career missionaries through The Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod in Kenya. In this role, Charles teaches theology courses to male seminary students preparing for pastoral ministry and to female students preparing to serve as deaconesses. Through the relationships that are formed, he is given the opportunity to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with the people of Kenya. Janet received a bachelor’s degree from Concordia University, St. Paul, St. Paul, MN. Before heading to Kenya, Janet worked as a teacher and a corporate trainer. She also has been serving as an adjunct professor at Matongo Lutheran Theological College in Kenya since 2013.

Valerie Stonebreaker became a volunteer missionary with LCMS Word Mission in Dapaong, Togo in December of 1997 and stayed in missionary work in Togo until 2009 when LCMS World Mission withdrew its presence from Togo. Despite this change. Stonebreaker remained in Togo as a teacher before recently becoming a Lutheran missionary with the Lutheran Church of Togo.
Sarah Berta-Somogyi is the daughter of Pastor Brad and Jane Cusson, and older sister to Jeff and James Cusson. Growing up in Denver, Colorado, Sarah graduated from Bethlehem Lutheran grade school and Denver Lutheran High School.
