TRIADS: A TOOL FOR BRIDGING CULTURES

Most of us are beginning to realize that many people outside of the church don't have much of an idea what Christianity is all about. Their culture is "post-Christian" so they don't understand Christian symbols, values or behavior. Triads are one tool in bridging the gap between "post-Christians" and those of us who are disciples of Jesus Christ and carry with us the DNA of faith.

WHAT ARE TRIADS?   Triads are three people of the same gender, at least one of whom is a "seeker", who have a relationship that allows them to gather once a week to:

  1.  Study larger sections of scripture (30 chapters or so) to build in a    context and allow room for issues to rise to the surface for discussion.
  2.  Be part of an accountability process that is supportive and at the same time helps each participant to "walk the talk."
  3. Pray with each other with a special emphasis on those whom they know who have spiritual needs.

HOW DO TRIADS WORK? Triads allow "seekers" (un-churched or un-believers) to spend time in the scripture and discuss what they find with encouragers who stimulate questions and sometimes provide insight from their own experience. The goal is that the seeker will meet Jesus in the Word and come to a saving faith in Him.

HOW CAN I LEARN TO BEGIN A TRIAD? There isn't much training needed just a willingness to learn the simple pattern and a desire to be part of God's process of building bridges to people who don't yet know Him. Watch your weekly CNH District "In Touch" enews for dates of a demonstration workshop near you, as they will be offered throughout the District.  Or, ask your Mission Counselor to lead one for your congregation.
