Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
Greetings to you and peace from God the Father and our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Well, we've come to the end of a series of discussions on the "mission of God." Over the last several weeks we learned that:
- The Kingdom and the mission of its coming into the world belong solely to God.
- God entrusts the stewardship of His Kingdom to us, the crown of His creation.
- God extends His Kingdom into the world through His Church--His servant community.
- God's Kingdom is contantly opposed by Satan, the world, and our flesh.
Today I would have us consider:
God's Kingdom comes. This reality is our (the Church's) hope.
The Lord keeps all of His promises. Here are some that are key for our work together:
1. All flesh will see the salvation of our God. (Luke 3:6).
2. But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8).
3. The kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed upon the ground, and should sleep and rise night and day, and the seed should sprout and grow, he knows not how. The earth produces of itself, first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear. But when the grain is ripe, at once he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come (Mark 4:26-29).
4. Upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it (Matthew 16:18).
5. But I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed, and I am sure that He is able to guard until that Day what has been entrusted to me (2 Timothy 1:12).
What comfort it is to know and trust that we are part of the eternal plan of God. The Holy Spirit strengthens us in faith. He gives us the desire to gossip the Gospel and to see as many people as possible enfolded into His Kingdom.
I trust that you will find in your week of ministry those precious, joyous occasions--those divine interruptions--that beckon you to do just that-- to share the faith you know and the one who loves you beyond all understanding, even our precious Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
In His name,
Robert Newton, CNH District President For the complete article (printable), click here. |
